Effects Help

Hi All

I wonder if I could rack some brains

I am using an ETC Ion

I want to create some effects I want to know the best way and some ideas please on the following

1. If i want to create an effect - say i have 10 led par cans and what i want to happen is they are all blue (from a colour palette)and starting from the outter 1 i want them to turn mag (from colour palette) working sl to sr, but holding a trail behind it so when 3 of the blues turn magenta when it got to the 4th lamp the end one would turn blue again and follow. so you only have 3 magentas at any one time.

Would presets be better for this ?

I hope this makes sense

2. Also I have some showtec sunstrips i wondered it there are some cool effects that people have found look good when using them, i know when not on dmx they have some great effects but when put in dmx you loose these.

3. I'm currently running the sunstrips through Virtual server and layers on the desk, how would I create a text file so it scrolled and then upload to the desk?, is there a good place to get more of the different type of files pre made

I hope all this makes sense many thanks in advance

  • 1. What version are u running on your Ion? 2.3.3 or an older one?

    2. Sorry but don't get it completely.
U only want some Intensity FX's on them? simply patch them and play around with some absolute and linear effects, there are very easy to use/build on the eos family and u will quickly understand how it works and be able to build what comes to your mind
  • Sorry for the confusion

    I'm on 2.3.3

So i have 10 led pars and they are all blue but i want the effect of red to run in over the top (making magenta) starting at par 1 going through to par 10, i don't want this to do 1 lampsat a time, i want there to be 3 at magenta at any one time
  • A few ways to do this.

Step based if you want to quickly recall the effect.
Put one channel in each step. Set the On state to be Red, Off State to be Blue or better Bkg (background) and have blue in the cue.
Set the step time to 1, Dwell to 1-3 seconds depending if you want a 1 second fade in & out time or snap.
By adding the dwell you'll keep channels in red longer.

    Option 2,
In 2.3.3 you have step times in Absolute Effects.
Set the step time to 1 sec Dwell to 2 or 3 (again depending on fade or snap time). Action 1 is red, action 2 Blue or Bkg.

    Option 3
Absolute effect, make 3 actions Red, 7 Blue or Bkg.

With the Absolute effects you may want the grouping to be 10 so it always playback the same!
