Lock options or User Levels

Greetings All,

I have an Ion running 2.3.3.9.

Once the desk is set up and loaded in Rep Plot, I have had a persistant problem of one operator changing patch to suit his needs and never marking it down.  He also reprograms submasters, again never leaving notes.

I realize that this can be solved by re-loading my show file, however, I would like to know if there is a way of stopping him from making these patch changes in the first place or restricting access so he cannot change the first fader page of sub masters?  I have offered several options of giving him his own fader page to modify, or running his own showfile, but nothing seems to stop his insistance on changing things around.

As you can imagine this is a frustrating situation when you don't know what has changed and the loaded show in the desk is not how you left it, with no notes.

Please help me find a solution to keep the console in some sort of restricted playback mode allowing for all operators to access cues, run subs, record cues if needed, but not make any lasting changes that make it impossible for fellow operators to use the console?

Thanks in Advance,

Rob

  • Not possible to do in the console currently. I suggest a nice long chat with your problematic operator. It has been brought up many times and I believe is "on the list" for something to be done eventually.
Maybe take the console away from him and give him a screen with magic sheets and a fader wing :)
  • ALWAYS reload the REP show file after he was in the building. I recall hearing about 'template files' some time ago. Are they still on the list? If so, they would make reloading a rep file more secure and simpler for all.

Personally, I'm in favor of 'user levels' as it could also prevent less skilled folks from getting into trouble.

  • THANKS! I would love to take the console away from him and make him run on something he is more familiar with... like a LightFactory... otherwise, I guess it's up to me to *-proof the console. Given some time I can find ways to streamline the showfile with magic sheets and submasters friendly to all. This won't change how he starts plugging and unplugging physical fixtures... I might need to get more e-tape for the space.
