A few questions re: playback faders & cue lists

I have started using playback faders for busking movers on an Ion and there are a few things that have left me scratching my head - Any help is appreciated.

What is the logic behind which assigned number corresponds to which cue list? When I am in the fader controls set up - I would assume creating a playback fader and assigning it #1 would attach it  to cue list 1 - but it doesn't seem to work that way. Assigning a fader as #0 attaches it to list 2 - what's that about?

Is it possible to disable the Q0 function when backing up a cue list before Q1 - Can I have the cue list loop backward to the final cue of the list instead? I know I can link the last cue to the first but there doesn't seem to be an option for the reverse.

Also a strange link behavior I have noticed - When the final Q in my list links back to Q1, it seems to clear everything in my current programmer. If I use the wheel to dial channels 1-10 up to full, when my link in cuelist 2 executes, it clears the intensities of channels 1-10, even though cue list 2 never uses channels 1-10 anywhere. Is this an intentional behavior?

I am admittedly not on the latest firmware (I am on 2.2.0) - I will attempt an update once this week's show has wrapped.

Cheers

  • Hello,

This is all about to change significantly with 2.4 , so I'll try and answer as things stand and what will be coming...

The current number is called a Playback number. That doesn't bear any reference to a cue list. You can have the same cue list on multiple faders with different playbacks. That means they can each have a different location within the list. As it's not really very useful that will be going away in 2.4 and cuelists can only ever be the same instance so it'll all make a lot more sense.

The Q0 function will also be possible to change in 2.4. There will be several options as to what happens when you reach the first/last cue in a list.

You're sure you never use 1-10 in cuelist 2? Even at a hard 0? There are other reasons this could happen but that's worth checking first.

    Cheers

  • Thank you for the response - I'll keep my eyes peeled for the changes in 2.4

On the last point - That was exactly the first thing I thought as well but I have triple checked that there are no values in the cues beside the ones I want. It seems to clear the values no matter where I put the link in the list. What else might this be?
  • loop cue list backwards.

    Copy cue 10 to 0.9. Time 0
Link cue 0.9 to cue 10
  • i just checked in 2.3.3 (which is currently the released version).
when Go-ing across a link, manual values of parameters that are really nowhere recorded in the respective cuelist will grey out (become "un-manual", i.e. not be available for Update or Record Only anymore), but they will not change (i.e. output stays the same).

i don't remember 2.2 that well anymore. using "Link 1 Loop 0" instead of just "Link 1" on the last cue might make a difference.
