Ion touchscreens

I just purchased 2 touchscreens for our ETC Ion. I assumed that it would run a touchscreen on both monitors but that doesn't appear to be the case. Can someone please help? Also, after running for a while, the one touchscreen that does work at times seems to stop working as a touchscreen even though it still displays as a regular monitor.

  • what hardware version of the ion do you have? there were three major ones:
    - one DVI connector and then a Y-cable to be able to plug to DVI monitors, and one Ethernet socket
    - two DVI connectors and one VGA connector, and one Ethernet socket
    - two DVI connectors and one Display Port, and two Ethernet sockets
  • I am sorry, from what I looked up, I didn't think that I would need to get too specific.

Our Ion is about 9 years old. It has one DVI output with a splitter.
The touchscreen monitors sold to us by our lighting supplier are: Planar PXL2230MW 22" Touch Screen Monitors

When I looked up the documentation for the Ion at this site: http://community.etcconnect.com/wikis/products/touchscreen-monitors.aspx

It says that the Ion should be able to handle as many touchscreens as it has outputs for. I took this to mean that we could have 2 touchscreens but since it is one DVI output, maybe I am limited to 1 touchscreen.

The documentation for the Monitor says that it is configured for Windows 10. The ETC documentation only has two options. Windows 7 or Classic.
  • there was a change how the operating system handles touch screens between XP and win7. win7 and win10 compatibility should be about the same.
your ion however is XP. those consoles can also accept two touch screens, this is not the limitation. the limitation is which touchscreens work. and the only touchscreens that work with XP consoles are those with a touch technology called "5wire resitive touch". IMHO those planar displays don't seem to match this. usually those are a specific range of models by ELO.
