Lost Control of Movers

Hey gang,

I am running on an ETC Ion, updated to most recent OS.

All movers ran smoothly since last show in May.  There was a loss of power and loss of battery backup over the summer, and now the movers have a mind of their own.  I can power them on (weird setup where I have to turn on the relays to get power to the movers) but after that they do not respond to any commands from the board.

I suspect a DMX issue and I'm going to try reinstalling all the lights.  But I wanted to throw the issue out to this fantastic group and see if there were any thoughts on the matter.

Thanks in advance,

Aaron

  • Hi Aaron, before going to reinstall stuff and do a lot of work, I suggest you investigate the cause of the problem.
To help you with this, we would need some more info on how the data Ist distributed in your Network. DMX directly linked to your desk's physical outputs? Are the outputs turned on in shell? In case of a networked solution, is network turned on for the respective protocol?
Did this happen after your software upgrade or after a power loss or both?
If networked solution, maybe the gateway (which are you using?) lost some of its configuration data?
Does it affect a) all movers? B) some movers? C) everything? Check data lines accordingly.
That's just a few quick thoughts. If you are more specific on how your stuff is wired, I'm sure more people can be of more specific help.
    Cheers,
    JP
  • I would try tech support. It could be as simple as not enabled to components being compromised in the re-energize the system. It also could power going down dmx line and compromising the mls.

    Good luck.
