Ion Wing Q Lists Go On(Release)

Is there anyway to make a cuelist on an Ion wing play when you press the bump button rather that when you release the bump button?

I haven't seen the issue in the release notes.

  • At the moment, go is activated on the up, not the down.  We do this because you can combine all of the playback buttons in a variety of ways, and the action always takes place when the button is released, not when depressed.  Can you let me know why this is causing you a problem?

  • Hey Anne, Thanks for taking the time to chat.

I do a lot of complex strobe hits in my shows (mostly TV music stuff).  Having an effect play on the release of the button causes a delay in the strobe firing.  Depending on the situation it can be noticeable.

I can appreciate the idea of presetting several cuelists all to fire at the same time....

As long as some day I can put an effect object into a submaster, then all will be good.

If it's possible to make it an option for cuelists that would be cool too.

  • Hmmm... effects on sub in 1.5 (fall).  We get a bit of pushback in each direction about actions on the up or the down.  We've been hesitant to add it as an option.... long soapbox about that.  But understand exactly what the issue is.  I think as we do more and more live event stuff, more of these issues will start to come to light.    So, much more discussion to be had....  :-)

    Thanks.

  • Hey Patrick

There has been a discussion in another thread about effects on subs an some possible work-arounds for now

    Hope it helps

  • I was thinking about this and if I wanted to fire mulitlple playback buttons, I would align my fingers and then press at the same time, and not release at the same time.  Based on lightboard history, seems that if the button is essentially a "Go" button, you should have it on the down.  I know, I know you said lots more discussion to be had.  This seems like it could be user defined and buried inside of a menu so 90% of the people never change it but the 10% who it matters to have a choice.  Just my 2 cents.

  • Jay, understood.  Will put on the list.

    Thanks much!
