Magic Sheet Navigation and editing

I've recently started delving into Magic Sheets, shout out to Mr. Boozer for the inspiration, and have a question regarding navigation between views. What I have is three magic sheets, 1 has a plan view of my on stage overhead rig, 2 has a plan view of my FOH hang and 3 has the programming tools that I use for all. MS's 1 and 2 have a toggle button that gets me to MS 3.

The problem I'm having is the ability to grab a fixture or series of fixtures and then toggle to MS 3 and be able to program. When I grab a fixture or group they come up in the command line but, when I toggle to MS 3,  I get a syntax error ahead of the fixture or group number and, subsequently, it will not toggle to MS 3 unless I add enter and even then, it'll get me to MS 3 but not allow for editing.

Ideally, I'd like to be able to grab fixture in MS 1, hit the toggle to MS 3 and be able to pick a color, intensity, etc. then toggle back to either MS 1 or 2, grab something else then back to MS 3 for more editing.

So, is there a way to do this that I'm missing? Would creating a Macro that toggles to MS 3 then selects last be the solution?

Thanks in advance for any info or solutions that can be passed my way.

  • Patrick, I use this method minus the tab portion. Do you have your nav buttons reference a specific tab, so thats to say that you intend a certain bank of nav macros to ALWAYS live in tab #3 (for example) on a particular MS view? I was running into the issue with multiple frames that my macros are not making the tab they reside in the active tab before changing the view, therefore changing my other frames.
