No. Nomad is a device that allows you to run either Eos software or Cobalt software on a computer, or on a Nomad Puck which is the computer. The consoles themselves are restricted to the family of software they belong to. A computer running Eos software using a Nomad dongle would not connect to a Cobalt console. It could output sACN to your system through a network, but it would be independently operating from your Cobalt unit. They could be on the network at the same time, but this could be quite chaotic as which ever console, Nomad/Eos or Cobalt has the highest level of DMX would be in control of any given channel, by channel, so who had control could be switching moment by moment.
ya, I was expecting that answer. My brain was hoping for something like.. a way to drop out to the shell, install EOS, and activate it with the Nomad. Then, as I travel around, if the house has a Congo, I could still operate in EOS land because I'd previously purchased the Nomad. Sure, the buttons wouldn't all work, and it's probably more complex than I realize.. but I'd still be curious to see something like that.
Unfortunately that's not how the Nomad works, and the software differences are so complex it would not be feasible to try and implement such a feature.
So if you are touring, and you have your laptop running Nomad and Eos, Why not just run your show of your laptop? That is what Nomad is for, why try to run through the Cobalt by forcing it to run Eos software? If you are worried about DMX output, A gAdget 2 will get you 2 universes. or a network gateway can get you up to 4 universes
i'm not touring, i'm designing several different shows around the country. Each theatre has a different console and I'm looking for a way to simplify my programming life. And, I find Congo programming highly tedious. It seems my option is to try to rent a series of Pucks out to the various venues.. but I was hoping for a plug and play option so that my rental budgets are spent on toys and not changing the consoles.
