Monitor Issues

Hi all,

I can't get one of the monitors to work on my Gio today. They can be a bit temperamental, but in the past they have always sorted themselves out. There were 2 plugged in when I switched on first thing. Then we added a third which I can't seem to enable. It is the same make as one of the other 2, when the desk turns on it comes up with an ETC logo like the others, then says there is no signal. I have tried enabling it in monitor arrangement, I have switched the desk on and off, I have replugged it with the others, but the desk remembers the other monitors and switches them around regardless of which port they are in. Any other ideas?

Thanks,

Katie

  • Hi Katie

I've had this before and the only way I could get it to work was to keep trying different cables and different display port to DVI adapters (on newer hardware). In the end I needed 5 adapters and 5 cables to get a combination that worked. I'm sure all the adapters and cables worked if I just wanted one monitor it was when I tired to have 3 monitors I had a problem.

Something I didn't try was an old XP trick of disabling all the monitors and enabling them one at a time. Another thing was plugging them in one at a time enabling each one as you go. Maybe worth a try if you don't have spare cables.
  • i seem to remember something about active and passive displayport to dvi adapters. because not all display ports come from the same graphics card on some ports a passive adapter is enough and on others you need an active one.

it's been quite some times since i quite being a video tech, so i'm not very up to date anymore...
