Editting Effects Offline

Potentially stupid question, but I'm trying to edit an effect in the offline editor and it doesn't seem to be saving.  I see the name of the effect in red with an asterix after it in the effects list, and that sticks even when I leave the effects list page and then come back.

Any thoughts?

  • I suspect that you're not editing the effect itself (in the Effects list, via [Effect][Effect] or via Browser | Record target Lists | Effects), but via the cue-level effects list (Displays | Effect Status).

Changes that you make in the latter only apply that that cue (and tracking cues, if appropriate). These are manual changes (in red) and must be recorded or updated into the cue to be saved. Changes to the base effect (the former) are saved immediately, as it is a blind display.

    I hope this helps?

Insofar as you taught me some things about editing effects that I didn't know before yes.... in terms of the specific problem, I don't _think_ so.  I am talking about editing in the Effects list, entered by hitting [Effect][Effect].  However, this has only ever been an issue for me in the OLE.  I suspect it's thinking slightly differently than the console itself, I'm just not sure what the difference is.

Thanks for the detailed response though!

  • Very good-

Let us know if you see it again - I just tried to edit an effect in the OLE and it worked as expected - but there are millions of little ones and zeros dancing around in the console, and maybe one has forgotten his steps...or maybe it's me that's wrong!
