DVI Adapter Issue

Hello,

I have an RVI Net3 that uses the Dual DVI to 59pin adapter to feed both monitors.  I did have two 59 pin to dual DVI adapters, however one broke a pin and had to be discarded.  I have done numerous attempts to get a replacement 59pin to dual DVI, including purchasing one direct from ETC.

The Molex adapter that arrived, would not allow the Left monitor to work.  I talked at length with ETC about it, and they replaced the adapter, and then when the second one wouldn't work either, they just refunded my money and said to look for another adapter at Staples, or "online" somewhere.

So.. I now have a new adapter.. and the issue -

I've attached all the pieces.  I can go into the shell / Settings / General / Monitor Arrangement

Both monitors ARE detected and enabled.. But the Left Screen is still blacked out.  I have read that you should drag your mouse across the screen - I've done that.  Still nothing shows.

I will add, if I go back and use my other older "backup" adapter everything is working fine.  Resolution is set up.. it all works.   However, any new adapter does not.

Does anyone have any help in this matter?  I really would like a secondary adapter at the ready just in case the primary breaks.

Thank you

  • Hello,

    A few thoughts:
    - It is possible that over the years the video card connector itself could be damaged or pins bent. It would be a good idea to take a look at the connector on the RVI itself to make sure the plastic in the connector isn't damaged, and pins are in the correct positions.
    - There could be subtle variations in the pin-out in these connectors that we're not aware of. Can you get pictures of the pins of the cables (both the working and non-working adapter) and the video card connector and send them on to hh <at> etcconnect <dot> com ?

    Thanks!
