WYSIWYG hook up

Hi,

I need to know if you can hook up  WYSIWYG Perform directly to the EOS Console and have it work? Cast software said I need a Wyg-it to have direct connectivity, but said to check with ETC. I have tried everything I can think of and I still get a can not connect error in WYSIWYG. If it is possible to connect directly to the console, can you provide a step by step instuctions on how to do it? Thanks

  • Hi Phil,

I'm doing it right now. Make sure your console and computer have the same IP address (well not exactly the same but very similar) and run an ethernet cable from the desk into your network socket.

You then need to go into WYSIWYG - Options - Application Options - ETC interface and tick allow EDMX reception and select V4.

Now when you patch in the EDMX Universe your Console will control your lights.

    Hope that helps,

    Crispy

  • Hi Crispy,

Thanks for the response. I tried an IP address of 10.101.50.103. and ticked the allow EDMX V4 and it still would not work. I also turned my firewall off. My computer shows a network connection, but WYSIWYG won't respond. Any other ideas I can try? Thanks

  • Hi Phil-

Can you ping the Eos console from the PC? Go to Start-Run-cmd , then type ping 10.101.90.101 (should be the IP address of Eos, but worth verifying with the [About] key.

Are you an Administrator on the PC? If not, I don't think you can do make it work.

It may be worth running Eos Offline on the PC as well - this should connect to Wyg without the console connected.

  • Hi Luke,

I'll try pinging when I get back to the venue. Yes I am the administrator. Does the cat 5 cable need to be a crossover cable? If it does that is what my problem is. Thanks

  • You do not need a crossover cable, because the EOS has an ethernet switch built inside, which means you can connect

your straight cat5 cable from the EOS to your PC.

  • I was inspired by this thread this afternoon and hooked WYSIWYG up to my Eos console.  I had problems at first getting WYSIWYG to see the EDMX and the diagnostics screen on the Eos showed WYG as "offline".  I found the problem to be Windows Firewall was blocking AppMux.exe (I minimised WYG to check some e-mail and saw the message under WYG) once I clicked "unblock" everything started working and the Eos diagnostics screen showed WYG as "online".

I'm running WYSIWYG R22 and Eos 1.4.1 if that makes a differnce in how things work.
