Fader wing and patch problem

So I just got a used ion for a highschool that i work at, and i updated the software last night. When i got to the school today to do some programing, the console button to configure faders wouldnt show up. After removing the fader wing and reattaching it (hard connection to the desk) it would then register. I was able to identify it through the desk menus, however after applying the changes, the fader config button still wont show up....what am i missing here?

Also started a new show, and patched the first 100 channels on the board to 1 to 1, but when i bring up channel 1, nothing happens, when i bring up channel 2, my "number 1" fixture turns on. All of the dimmers seemed to have shifted over by one, i have double checked the patch and even started yet another new file and same deal. Cant seem to get the patch to truly be 1 to 1? any ideas?

Finally, the second DMX port on the back of the console doesnt work, UNLESS its set to output in universe 1, so i currently have 2 ports, both set to output universe 1 which works, but the second i try to set it to be a second universe, it stops working. any ideas on that?

Thanks for the input guys! this has been driving me nuts all day.

  • With a used console my first move would be a deep clear. Get back to factory defaults on everything so you know what you are working with, and where everything is set.

Then you can get into port settings and a 'normal' patch. In my work with several high schools, I try to make things as simple and direct as possible. Non-theater department events happen regularly at many schools. A template file can be a great tool.
