In TV/film production we mostly work with manual data, and might run through a lot of commands before recording anything. When we do record, it's primarily to keep a record for reshoots or building future looks, not for playback. The command history is especially valuable in this context when trying to backtrack or correct a mistake on a particular channel, since many other unrelated commands might have been issued in between and undo can't be used. With that in mind, there are a few ways I think the command history could be improved:
Timestamps. This would be extremely helpful in figuring out data entry errors and responding to requests like "go back to what we had on group 6 20 minutes ago".
Individual histories/undo by channel. I think this would be a fantastic feature. If keeping full histories for each channel eats up too much memory, perhaps this could be done by searching or sorting the global command history.
Command history persistence. Currently the command history is emptied after a show save. It would be very useful if we could still access it after doing a quick save. Maybe with a setting to define how far back the history will go so it doesn't keep growing without limit, if memory usage is an issue here too.
