Default Template for "New" Show File

I have not found a definitive answer that was dated later than 2009. Is it possible to set a default show file on EOS consoles so that when you choose "New", it loads a pre-populated file rather than a blank file?

  • That is what I already do. I have a template created, but instead of using File>New, I have to use File>Open>Show File Archive>"My Template"/File>Save As>Show File Archive>"New File". It would just be really nice to be able to set a template that loads, or have a couple user defined template options beside New on the menu.

That, and having the ability to set a System Default for Tracking/Cue Only would be wonderful. I use Tracking most of the time, but most of the people I supervise don't quite grasp the concept yet. It would be nice to Not have the first thing I explain to them is how to get out of Tracking.

  • I have 3 or 4 different "House" files. 1 is used 95% of the time, one is house lights only, and the other 2 are specific client show files. They all have pre-built Subs, palettes, snapshots, the house patch, house light control and console settings. These act as my Templates.

I've never felt that re-loading the House file at the end of the night for the next operator/next event was onerous, nor saving the show file in the correct directory. You could have 1 copy with settings for the Q Only mode, and 1 copy for you . . .

I've only really wished for a way to lock them so they can't be recorded over. (shift update is great, until you realize that you never renamed the file in the first place).
