Magic Sheet Object Multiple Colors

Question

I'm creating an effect magic sheet using the effect Object and the Marco object symbols. I'm trying to make my objects more than 1 color. 
 For example effect one is an absolute color effect going from red to blue. 
 I'd like my Object that corresponds to be red and blue. 
 I tried linking it to the channel, hoping it would show the last values the effects had ran. No dice. 
 I guess I could make images on my computer and upload into my file but that seems a bit to tedious. 
 Any ideas?

I made a Square, and overlaid that with two rectangles with the two colours I want, and then grouped that all together. I then assigned that group of objects to be the effect I want it to be. It loses it if you ungroup the whole thing, but it works and I suspect he did something similar.
