Query about Nomad Midi Control

Hi All,

Apologies in advance as I am very green when it comes to this stuff but here goes. I am currently running a Nomad Eos set up on a Mac Mini. I'm wondering is it possible to connect midi devices? If so how?

I have an Akai APC Mini that has 8 pages of 8 faders and 64 trigger buttons. It connects to my Mac via USB and I've used it on another program called Cuelux to build Cue Stacks scenes etc. I'm wondering if there's anyway that this can be used to control Sub faders.

I also have in my possession a Showtec Showmaster 48 desk which has 48 faders which control 48 channels. You can change modes to turn the bottom row of 24 faders to Submasters. This desk has a Midi in and a Midi Out. Is it possible even for me to set this desk up as a type of fader wing to control subs?

Any help on this would be great as I am really not experienced when it comes to Midi etc..

Regards,

Paul

  • you can't currently use usb-midi devices with the eos software. there are programs however that will translate incoming usb-midi into OSC messages which Eos can handle. OSCulator is one of them.
just because the showmaster has midi in/out doesn't mean anything. Midi has many flavors (Midi notes, program change, preset change, sysex, Midi Show Control (MSC), Midi Time Code (MTC). those flavors are tailored to different functions, so the Go button would probably output MSC while the faders use a different flavor and buttons might use something else entirely. so before you can find out, which features of the showmaster actually has midi output, this will not help.
if you happen to have a sACN input node you can connect the showmaster's dmx output to that node and then use sACN data to manipulate Eos.
  • Ok thanks for the prompt reply. So with a bit of work there is a possibility of getting the Akai setup using a program like OSCulator?
As I said I've no idea about midi or any of that so I apologise for my ignorance on this.

    What exactly is sACN?
