Hi Friends,
Just wanted to report a few issues I've discovered with the Robe Spiider Profiles. I know they are compliated beasts, and I've only begun experimenting with them, but these are a few issues I've encountered.
1) In the multi intensity/"ring" modes, the various individual LED's are all assigned another instance of "Red", "green", or "blue", which makes them all respond collectively from the console. I think this should be Red 1-Red3, or Red1-Red19, depending on the mode. (Yes, I'll probably end up patching these as separate generic RGB pixel fixtures, but that's separate from this.
2) The Color Mix control channel defaults to Pixel has priority. I've still not entirely figured out how this channel works (it determines the relationship between the individual pixel RGB values and the fixture "master" RGB values), but with the way the profile is setup on the Eos, this leads to the fixture not having any intensity by default. Wondering if raw DMX mode (Color Mix Channel set between 80-127) is a better default? I know I spent an hour or so trying to get the fixture to turn on before I found this channel :)
3) Speaking of breaking a fixture like this into multiple channels for individual LED control, I'm wondering about the best practice to do so when the various intensities fall in the middle of the fixture profile (such as Spiider Mode 1). Do I build a part profile for the bits before the individual colors, , and then a second part profile for the bits after, and channel the RGB addresses separate from this? Will this cause any weird issues?
Thanks,
Dan
