Disable Automark for a specific Channel - Is Assert an option?

Assert is used to make a tracked value behave like a move instruction. that's why only your parameters which are tracking can keep the A, the intensity moves, so it's a move instruction and doesn't need Assert to behave like a move instruction (because it already is a move instruction and behaves like a move instruction). Assert is used in different situations, one is when you press Go while another (long, slow) cue is still running. the other is if you work with multiple cuelists.

i claim that automark disable doesn't work on a part-level but on a cue level. but i would have to confirm that at home. but when using automark disable make sure that you use it on the right cue (the dark vs. the bright cue).

OK! You already helped me. So far I used Assert only for that purpose and it was my understanding of it.

I was just thinking about a way to prevent marking and read this (switching to German ´cause I know you´ll understand):

"Bei Verwendung auf Kreis- oder Parameterebene stellt [Assert] sicher, dass der gesamte Kreis oder angewählte Parameter mit seinen gespeicherten Werten wiedergegeben wird."

But then I just missinterpreted the sentence.

For the Automark thing I have to say I really should get into referenced marking before I go on bothering you.
I already checked what you say and can tell that it´s working when the automark is disabled in the right cue and then it´s even working for Q-Parts.
It´s something I allready mixed up before that the sign for the Mark is in the Q where it happens but it comes from the Q where the change happens.
Already had that Problem with discrete timing.

If any of you have any idea how to realise what I want without using Part-Qs im still interested... 

Anytime you have a parameter that is moving while the intensity is at 0 it is a Dark Move unless it is Mark. I am not a a fan of "D" in my cue list but sometimes it is unavoidable, and the console is telling you it is moving while off. What i do in situations like this is record the Red information in the cue before and label the cue as "Mark Cue #" .

In my specific example I disabled the Automark in Q-Part2 to prevent a marking that would be possible ´cause I want to see the movement while the dimmer is coming up. Here the PSD shows me a "D" for that Q-Part2 as well but I wouldn´t call that a Dark Move?!

By the way… As long as we're probably talking about Assert; how do I get rid of Assert on a single channel?
The way it is working on cues won't work here. I already tried some things but the only way I could do it was @ Enter Update then bring the original value back and update again. I'm almost sure there is a better way…

Is there really no funktion for that then Q-Parts or the workaround with 0.1 on the dimmer?

Cue 1 can contain intensity and first color information. Add a follow of 0 to next cue with new color information....

i am not sure if that is what you are trying to achieve? I played around with parts just now and could get it to change color in same cue. My guess is a channel can only have one move instruction per parameter in a cue, which makes sense....

I really don´t care about the "D". And I don´t want to have more than one move instruction in one Q.
I want to use Automark but be able to turn it off for specific channels in specific Qs (but not the rest of the Q) like for a visible movement while the dimmer is fading up.
I can reach it by writing the parameter change for that specific channel in a Q-Part and turn Automark off for that part. I will get the same result when I "disable" the marking by giving the channel 0.1 on the dimmer in the Q before the move instruction but I don´t like to work with Q-Parts here ´cause I think it´s not very intuitive (especially with more than one operator on a show) and the workaround with the 0.1% is ok but not a function for that.
I´m looking for something like "discrete AutomarkOff".
Probably AutomarkOff for Q-Parts is the only "real" solution but if not I´d love to learn about it.

You "turn it off" for a specific channel by setting the channel at 0.1% If you are using auto mark you are sacrificing some control to get the ease of auto mark. If you don't like how auto mark is working turn it off and use the other marking tools that the console has. The console has a large suite of marking functions to make your show run smoothly and efficiently. Please take some time and learn them. Cue parts are a useful and easily identifiable tool we have to separate out things that need different timing or control. They can be labeled. They are very useful in multi-console environments.

I get your point and already said that I have to get into referenced marking.
One should be allowed to prepare his own set of tools though.

Just trying to keep the number of options down a bit.  It's like asking for a carrot peeler when you already have a vegetable peeler and 10 knives in your kitchen.  If you are asking for a very specific feature and complain that you don't think the current options are very intuitive you may get some snarky responses.  

I'm not trying to attack you just pointing out that there are multiple ways already in the console.

Assert is a playback tool to force something to be treated as a move instruction even if it is a tracked value.  Asserting a channel or attribute just makes that "move" be played with the cue.

This is applied live by selecting the channel and pressing "assert" enter.

To remove repeat the process.

If you are in blind you can do it without updating. 

select channel assert enter.

I didn´t do the second update and so was left with some red A´s.

I don´t want to start a pointless discussion but would like you to get me right.
I´m not claiming ETC have to give me the features I am looking for but I want to know my options.
Thats why I´m asking. Is there a cross-screwdriver in the toolbox and I just can´t find it (but maybe someone else) or do I have to do it with a flat-head small enough to fit the screw?

there is no way other than what's already mentioned in this thread to exclude a channel from an automark in a cue (just like there wasn't on an NTX ;) )
