Ion Touchscreen Issues

Just received our new Ion with two Touchscreens. After intalling the board and powering everything up, the touchscreens "seemed" to work (you could touch the screen and the cursor would move) however touching one screen made the mouse cursor appear and move on the other screen...dragging your finger across in one direction (i.e. to the right) only caused the cursor to move in the opposite direction (to the left) onto the other screen. Obviously some calibrations are in order, right?

Using the info at this link from ETC:

http://www.etcconnect.com/knowledgebase.aspx?ID=21017

which had info on calibrating the touchscreens from the shell only seemed to bring up some other issues.

We tried using the EloRtBtn.exe program (from the ELO Touchscreen folder ont he desktop) but double-clicking on this program did nothing...no "mouse" or other calibration settings would appear (as the info from the ETC Knowledge base said it would). Also, trying to use the  ELO Accutouch control panel settings only resulted in a dialogue box stating no touchscreens were installed (though logging back into Ion allowed us to use the touchscreen functions...albeit with the calibration way off).

I hope that all made sense and any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks!
Josh

  • I've seen this scenario where touching one screen moves the mouse on the other.  Monitor 1 has to be the screen with the CIA, so try swapping your DVI connections.

You also mention "librating the touchscreens from the shell only seemed to bring up some other issues".  What other issues did you encounter?  I only ask as I've never had any problems calibrating a touchscreen through the shell and am interested to hear what you experienced

     Hope that helps

    Cheers

  • Brent,

Thanks! I will definitely try that.

As for other issues I encountered when trying to calibrate: After entering the shell, I wasn't sure what to do to calibrate the screens...so after reading some articles in the ETC knowledge base I tried using some of the programs in the ELO Accutouch folder on the desktop as well as the ELO Control Panel...in both cases something seemed to be wrong: double-clicking the calibration program in the desktop folder resulted in no program or utility opening / when I open the ELO control Panel I get a message that no touch screens are installed on this computer. Obviously they are installed with some type of driver as they are working (albeit not correctly!) when I am logged into Ion...but something isn't right somewhere. The screens shipped with the Ion and the Ion had the drivers pre-installed. I am wondering if I should try downloading the latest drivers from the ELO website and reinstalling them.
