What version do I have?

 I am a new Ion user as of a few days ago...how do you to verify which version is running, and how to I keep track of new versions so I stay up to date?  Also, I assume so, but are updates free?

 One last thing...what is client software is exactly?  I read an older post about registering the console and getting the client software...is this still the case?

    To check what version of software you are running, press the [about] key.  This will open a window in the CIA area which will list what version of the software your console is currently running.

    New software is released on the ETC website.  If you goto the products section / controls / Ion / Downloads, you will find everything that you can download about Ion such as manuals, software, datasheets, etc etc.  Here is a link to the site

    When a new version of software is available for download, someone from ETC will put a post up on the forums to inform everyone.  The current version of software is v1.4.1  Version 1.4.2 is due out sometime mid September.  Software updates are free.

    Client software is similar to the offline editor.  it is software that you install on your computer, and allows you to control the lighting desk remotely from your computer.  When you register with ETC, they will send you a copy of the software and the dongle for you computer.

    In addition to posting on the forums, we also send an email to all registered users whenever a new software release is available.  If you haven't yet registered your system, you'll find instructions for doing that at the beginning of your users manual.  Or you can just click on the "Myetc" link on the ETC website home page.    Please find the time to do this.... we will send you a client software kit for your trouble :-)
