Color Picker

How cool would it be if you used the color picker to choose a color for a moving light and the color you picked showed up in the tombstone.  Is there a way to show that already and I just don't know about it.  I've never seen it show up on the display, and I record it as a manual val.  But I've had mutiple Lds, assistants, ask me what color is ch. 301 in?  Unfort. I did have time to record a C.P. so all I can tell them are the Values for Color (Sat., Hue, etc.)

Any thoughts?

Thanks

  • The only way I know how to have a colour number be displayed is to record it into a colour pallet, and have referenced labels setting turned on.

We've been toying around with concepts like that since we started work on Eos...so I would expect us to get to some cool features like that at some point in the future.

  • That would be great, can't tell you how times we use the picker.  As to what Brent said, you are correct sir, unfortualy the designers don't want to give you enough time to record the C.P.s and yes we have labels active
  • They really can't wait for 10 seconds so you can record a pallet and label it???   ...that's a shame
  • Yep, bummer!  But with 5 shows in right now, they want as much lighting time as they can get, since they don't get much, would rather just record has man, which isn't a problem till they want to verify what color 501 is in.
  • Ryan,

Are you hoping for a picture of the color to show up in the tombstone?  Obviously, there can't be a meaningful name to every one of the nearly infinite colors you can get from the picker.

I fully see your point though, and it gives me the opportunity to restate my wish for for the Encoder labels to show up on the live screen.  A color wheel has a label for each frame that is reflected on the encoder screen (as well as with most of the other NPs),  Right now, you have to call up the fixture to see that info.  If you call up two fixtures, or a group, with different color info, you don't see any of it.  Yes it's pretty easy to make color pallettes of your color wheels and such, but it seems redundant if the encoders already have that info.  Then you can spend your pallette making time on multiple parameter stuff.

  • Boo nasty.  The joys of high rep...

Until the colour picker is improved, would it be possible to get a list of colours they want before hand so you can make them into pallets?  Or make a whole bunch of pallets of the most commonly used colours?  Once it's done once, you could then load it as standard for a new show and then those colours are always on hand.  I have seen this done before in a high rep environment on a strand 500 console - common colours are recorded into a group, and then become part of the standard showfile for a new show.  Makes life a bit easier...

    Cheers

  • Wouldn't that be great, to get info in advance, never happen.  I do though have a base set of C.P.s I use but you know they never ask for the "stock" Pals.  I'm sure it's on the list : )
