Macro plays back differently in sub vs. direct

I set a sub (and fader bump) to execute a macro. When I press the bump button, the macro executes, but results are different from "Macro 1 enter" or even when I put a macro button on a magic sheet to execute it. The sub macro doesn't work; the other two work fine. Here's the macro:

The macro should be executed in blind, but still does something live. When I press the bump button, nothing happens. Other bump subs work ok.

I am doing this using the virtual faders on the offline version.

Set the macro mode to "foreground". As a background macro it is running as a different user.

if you don't decide which mode a macro should run in (you can do this in the macro list), it will be set to default mode. that means that a manually recalled macro will fire in foreground and one that is triggered outside of the command line (e.g. executed from a cue) will be fired in background mode.
foreground mode means a macro writes to your command line, background mode means it doesn't (technically speaking: it will be run by User 0).
