Chroma-Q scrollers errors

Hi

I'm trying to build the gel string for a Chroma-Q scroller.  This is the typical scroller will see coming in for rentals from 1 of our local suppliers.

I can build a string for a Wybron Coloram 2, but I can't for the AC Lighting Chroma-Q.  Help.

I pick an imaginary channel, patch to an imaginary address, and select Type-Wybron-Coloram 2 /  attributes / scroller.

The colour frame window opens on the left side.  I pick New Wheel 1 or 2 or 3 / Edit / Label as test /

pick frame 1, Rosco, RoscoLux, and I pick happily away.

However:

I pick an imaginary channel, patch to an imaginary address, and select Type-AC Lighting-Chroma Q Cascade Creative (that pulls up 2 channels of DMX) /  attributes / scroller.

The colour frame window opens on the left side.  I pick New Wheel 1 or 2 or 3 and I get an Scroller - Error : Syntax Error.  I click any of the commands, I get the same error.

Help

Of the 3 Chroma Q choices, which is the one for the scroller?  Cascade Creative, Cascade Library, or Cascade Library Mspeed?

Am I missing something obvious?

And how do you (users) store your library of common equipement not in your house hang?  I've got no dmx devices except for the dimmers.  I'm looking to build "plug and play" libraries for the common rental gear that will come in with clients.  that way I can quickly patch in the address and channel # of the client's gear, and they are good to go.  How do you store this information if not associated with a specific channel or address?

thanks.

  • The answer to which of the 3 is "None of the above". The "Generic Scroller_Dimmer" fixture is the closest match to an AC Chroma-Q. I have Chroma-Q Plus scrollers and had to define a custom fixture to be able to control the attributes, but if you don't need that feature the Generic Scroller_Dimmer fixture should do the job for you.

You can create custom fixtures and store them in a default show for some of your kit. The editor is awkward and incomplete at the moment and but I believe ETC has plans to improve the fixture editing in a future release

  • The ChromaQ Cascade is actually a two-string colour-mixing scroller with standard strings, very similar to the Wybron CXI. This is why you can't change the strings, as it would break the colour-selection functionality you get from the colour picker.

Generic Scroller is probably the best option at present.
