New Ion user trying to do background changes in cues.

New Ion user question, back ground changes in cues. I am programming a theatrical show for which we would like our cyc to change colours over 60 minutes while running other cues. I thought that if I didn't have any changes to those channels in following cues, the cyc lights would continue to transition, but they are going to black on the next cue. What is the best way to do this? I've looked at Assert, Block, multiple cue lists and multi-part cues but can't seem to get any of these to do what I want. I'm sure it's a simple solution, I just don't have the experience with this console yet. I appreciate any help!

  • IN Blind, check the cue where the cycs go out. If there is any data (0's) in that cue (or any other cue), then that cue takes over the 60 min fade, since new data takes over. Make sure the difficult cue is NOT Asserted. (is there an A in the flag column in the difficult cue?)

Another solution, put that cyc fade on cue list 2. Link cue list 1 cue XX to Cue 2/1 (where the cyc is at the starting level), make a cue 2/2, with the final look, and a 60 minute fade. Link cue 1/yy to 2/2, so that 2/2 is triggered when 1/yy GOES.

THere should be no data for the cyc channels in the cues during that 60 minute fade, or else that could override list 2.

Make sure that list 1 doesn't assert itself over list 2. Check priorities of each list. (I haven't done this before, so I'm not sure exactly).

At some point, cue list 1 WILL need to assert itself over the cyc channels, so you can continue on with the show.

    Hope this helps

  • That did it! Thanks! I didn't understand what Blind was for.
