Gadget II information lag issues

Hello,

I've recently purchased a Gadget II student/educator kit and have installed and am up and running.  Unfortunately I'm not getting any kind of smooth dimming output whatsoever and everything seems it's delayed by 1 second or so.  I have a very recent MacBook pro that was loaded with all possibly options (and hitting all spec limitations possible).  I've just done the installs, and have the sentinel key plugged in and the software allows me to operate in primary mode.  Unfortunately, the output is just terrible.  Cleary sent in large chunks of data at a time, maybe once every half second or so.  It makes the dimming, or executing of precise cues impossible.  Has anyone else had this problem, if so what was the fix?  Thanks.

  • This is really unexpected - could you give your local ETC office a call? We'll want to get logs from the machine and try to figure out what's going on.

Some of the quick ones - are any other user apps running in the background at the same time? Is it only output from the Gadget that is delayed, or network output? Does the screen lag? Does the Gadget II go through a USB hub? If a laptop, is the Mac connected to power?

    Thanks!
  • Hans,

Thanks for your prompt response. To answer all of your questions:

Nomad and it's associated family software were the only things running. I had the gadget with a single dmx line running to a single isolated instrument. (MacBook Pro--->Gadget II ---> LED par). I have just purchased this device and this was my initial test. The screen does not lag at all. The Gadget II was plugged directly into the USB port on my MacBook Pro. The MacBook was connected to power the entire time.

I'll reach out to whoever my local ETC office is and follow up.
