An Awesome Concept!

So while experimenting with our 2 Ions today (One client and one master), I discovered that with one console partitioned to control our conventional channels, and the other with no partition, I could setup the conventional console to be Cue Only and the master (moving light) console to be Tracking!

Has anyone had any experience with such a setup? Are there specifics printed somewhere as to when cues are created on either console, what data is actually recorded? Does the cue need to be created on the master console, then the conventionals added via the other console?

The concept is exciting, I'm concerned however, about having one console work too far ahead and not record half of the rig's info.

Thanks!

  • Interesting! I'd never thought of doing that...and I think it would probably break my brain, but to each their own...

I would have to set it up to actually give a definitive answer, but I would expect that if you, for example, edit a cue in tracking, it would behave consistently and not care who set that level - if it is the same level in the next cue and not blocked, it will track (assuming it has the channel in its partition).

I'd be interested to hear about any and all experiences with this setup. Like I say, I'm fairly convinced that it would drive me batty, but perhaps it has a place for others.
