I'm completely new to lighting and have an Element 40 for my church. Several sets of spotlights are not dimming. They stay on full until they get to 0% then turn off. Is there some kind of setting that I might be missing? I believe that they are patched correctly.
what i forgot to ask: those are tungsten spotlights? you know the "old" kind that needs dimmers? not fancy new moving lights or LED stuff or color changing stuff?
i assumed it was old school. so what i wrote (and write further down) applies to that. if it's movers or LED we will do something different.
to find out, if it's on the console side:
Select one of the misbehaving channels, [Live], 1 [Enter]. Press [About].
check if it is says that Channel 1 is a Generic Dimmer and check if there is a Curve mentioned.
then click on Patch on the right hand side and while fading keep an eye on the number in the DMX column. does it fade or does it follow real life?
if it fades while real life switches then i claim it's not the console but e.g. a dimmer setting.
These are the older style lights. It is set as a generic dimmer. I've attached a photo of the screen (Sorry, unable to get a screen shot). The dmx values change when scrolling but I'm not sure what you mean by real life.
