Effects ???

Can you fade up an effect yet?  I thought you could, i'm prob. just doing this wrong.  The problem I have is, built a step effect, but when the cue runs in the effect just bumps on, and when it should go off it bumps out, instead of fading up or down with the cue time.  i even tried timing for the ch. only.  The effect only has 1 step  278  step time 4, in time 2, dwell 0, decay 2, on state 80 off state 30,  (entry) immediate fade by size, (exit) Stop and fade  So the fix for now is put 278 in a sub fade it down manually as i trigger the cue. Upfade is behind blackout.

Any ideas???

  • Nevermind, I just changed the entry and exit time, what do you know the effect fades up and down.  How foolish of me>

    Hi Ryan - you can make an effect follow cue timings by using {entry time}[enter] {exit time}[enter].  The entry and exit time should now say "Cue"

    Just be aware, that effects using cue times for entry and exit will inherit their times from part 1 of the cue.

    I am using two chase effects (using the same group of lights) in two different consecutive cues, with a cross-fade between the two.  I want the effects to crossfade with the time of the cue crossfade (5 seconds), however, the lights are bumping to full and them fading into the effect chase.  The entry and exit times are all set as "Cue/Sub", and I even tried changing those times to the 5 seconds to match the cue.  Neither has worked.  Is there something that I am missing?

    Hi,

    I'm afraid this is one of the limitations of the current effects engine. I'm guessing you're using a step based effect? You can get round this a couple of ways...

    If you can use a relative liner effect (this may not work with what you are doing) that will be able to cross fade ok. The alternative is to use a second cue list and have the cue with your 2nd effect on that cue list. Trigger it from the main cue list and this will allow the two effects to cross fade successfully.

    This is on 'the list'!

    Hi "EPeterson"! This issue with Effects Transitions is fairly high up the list from what I understand, so I think you are likely to see this fixed in 2.0. Doesn't help you at the moment of course, but at least it's imminent!
