Interesting, I tried disabling "Preserve Native" again and it doesn't seem to affect the control of the rotators. Perhaps it was a coincidence involving our other troubleshooting efforts. We did discover a data transmission issue as well. We do now have control over the rotators.

Unfortunately, we also identified a bug with the SmartMove DMX fixture profile and the way the controls are displayed. The bug is causing there to be no on-screen or encoder control for the "Gobo Mode" parameter (2nd address, controls speed of index changes and SmartMove effects). The only workaround is to select "Gobo Mode" and type in a value. There are no on-screen faders or wheels for the other parameters either, though they do at least show up on the encoders. This seems to be an issue with EOS 2.5.2. We have reported it to ETC and the EOS team.

I still am curious as to what the function of "Preserve Native" actually is? I couldn't find anything in the manuals about it.

are you looking at it in the ML controls tab? if you don't see an encoder for a parameter you can click on the parameter header and the encoder will appear.

so let's say you have moving light type A. in a cue it's set to Gobo 2, which result in an output of DMX value 33. you want to change the fixture type to another type, type B. after you have changed the type, do you want the cue to still point to Gobo 2 (even if this needs another DMX output) or do you want the cue to still result in a DMX output of 33 even if that means that the fixture might show Gobo 1.

Thank you for that tip. That is helpful for controlling the two parameters of the three that actually do show up in the ML controls tab. The third "Gobo Mode" parameter needed to fully control the rotators does not appear in the ML controls tab or on the encoders, only in the channel display.

Per your example; "Preserve Native" will maintain the gobo selection when enabled? Or maintain the DMX value when enabled? What happens if you enable it, make a fixture change, and then disable it?

its state only matters in the moment you make the change. enabled means DMX output stable, disabled means displayed text is stable
