Programming a chase effect with colour changes with LED par cans

Question

I'm scratching my head a bit in that I'm close to an effect but not quite gettin over the line. I have a row of RGB par cans and I want to program an effect where each can comes on in sequence in one colour, then another, then another and so on then repeats the pattern. So for example a red beam runs along the row, then a blue, then a green and so on. I've recorded a load of by type colour palettes (including a "black" pallete) and I'm using an absolute effect but I can't quite get the effect I want - it seems to cross fade between shades, even with the in time at 0. I'm guessing I'm just not getting the righ combination of groupoin and so on. Any suggestions, folks?

I had this same question a few months ago. Try changing the grouping to the number of fixtures times the number of colors.

How about using a grouping of 1? Also, keep in mind, I believe a color palette of black does not work. I think you may need to set all of your lights to the first step "look" and record that as a color palette, and then change your lights to the "look" of your next step and record that as a color palette and so on ...

I did a "white light" chase last night with a row of 10 LED PARS with a red background which looked pretty cool... 
(Absolute Effect) 
Step 1 CP1 = WRRRRRRRRW 
Step 2 CP2 = RRRRRRRRRR 
Step 3 CP3 = RWRRRRRRWR 
Step 4 CP2 = RRRRRRRRRR 
Step 5 CP4 = RRWRRRRWRR 
Step 6 CP2 = RRRRRRRRRR 
Step 7 CP5 = RRRWRRWRRR 
Step 8 CP2 = RRRRRRRRRR 
Step 9 CP6 = RRRRWWRRRR 
Step 10 CP2 = RRRRRRRRRR 
The white light chases from the outside in. I repeated CP2, otherwise it would just turn to white while chasing in and stay white. 
Set each at a time of .2 seconds and a grouping of 1. 
Note: My LED fixtures are set with a home intensity of 255 and all colors with a home of zero.

And that's the bit I'd forgotten- that colour palettes can contain different colours for all the fixtures. Thanks, I've now got the effect I was after.
