ECT Element 60/500 - re-plotting/recycling a show file

I'm expect this is not difficult to do but I don't know how to do it.

We are going to remount a show.  It will be one of five different shows that will run in rep this summer.  I have the old show file so I have the cues (271 cues).

Since we last did the show, (last summer) we changed our dimmer rack from a 48 to a 96 way Sensor rack, and added 4 additional Martin Atomic 3000 Strobes.

We also repatched quite a bit of the standard hang to tidy things up, now having the new extra dimmers to work with.

I'd like to keep the patch the way we have it now as the operators have gotten used to where things are on the board's sliders but would like to reuse as much of the information from the old show file as I can to save re plotting all the movers, etc.

Our console is an ECT Element 60/500.  I have Nomad on my Desktop at home so I can play with the show files here.

We have 20 movers in this show, 10 of VariLite VL1100's (2 are Arc, 8 are Tungsten, all with shutters), 4 of Moartin MAC TW1's, 6 of Elation Platinum Beam 5R's.  There are also a dozen ColorBlast 12 TR's and some LED PAR's as well but they are on the same channels they were on in the old show file so they will carry over okay.

So how do I go about moving the cue information from the old channels in the old file to the new channels in the new file?  Can I do this and keep all the non intensity parameter info for each cue?  That would save a lot of fixing up if it can be done.

So the two VL1100AS were on channels 49 & 50 in the old show file and I'd like them to be on 90 & 91 in the new show file.

The MAC TW1 were on 51 thru 54, now on 81 thru 84

The VL1100TS were on 93 thru 100, now to be on 92 thru 99

The hazer went from 85 to 100 and "type" was changed to a Radiance Hazer.

The Accu Fog 1000 (7ch)'s went from 83 & 84 to 101 & 102

The Atomic 3000's went from 81 & 82 to 103 thru 108

The dimmers are generally on the first 60 channels but they didn't change too much in the patch and are much simpler to fix so I'm not as worried about them.

So can this be done?  If so, how?

  • Go to patch and type Chan 49 + 50 MoveTo 90 Enter. MoveTo is pressing CopyTo twice.
Moving a channel in patch is taking the info in all the record targets and puts it to the new channel numbers. Only channel numbers in magic sheets and macros don't follow along.

The only thing you have to take care is that when moving you will overwrite the target if something is still there. So you have to move that out of the way first
  • That worked perfectly. I had not understood that doing the "Copy To" in patch would also change all the channels in the cues. That is so easy to do now that I know how, thank you Ueli.
