Multiple cell cyc units on an element lighting board

Working on updating our theatre from the dark ages to the new world of LEDs. Current project is updating the cyc units. One of the units I am trying out is a 12 cell led strip that you can control individual cells to make effect. The unit is in the fixture library but I do not see how you can grab hold of individual cells as there isn't a way to grab control of individual DMX addresses when the instrument is a fixture. It is easy to do if I set it up on the board as individual dimmers The board I am running is an Element.

  • If you have multi-cell LED fixtures, always patch each cell as its own channel, e.g. patch each cell of each fixture as a Generic RGB channel. Create a group for each fixture and use that group to specify the fixture.

That makes it easy to do effects. Also, you can generate a magic sheet that gives you a real-time display of the color and intensity of each cell in each fixture. Magic sheets like this are invaluable for real-time visualization, quick selection of cells and fixtures, and effect generation.
