Touchscreens for ION?

Hey All,

Looking at getting an Ion system for our theater (hopefully).  I have done a lot of looking around, and a lot of the information i am finding on compatible touchscreens is VERY old.  Is there a newer list of compatible screens out there?  OR, what are you using?

Also,  are two touchscreens overkill, or is one and a standard monitor fine for most people.

Thanks!

  • I bought 2 Ions 10 years ago (2 venues, separate systems). for each venue I bought 1 touch screen and 1 regular. Partly budget, and partly booth layout: it's easier to reach the near screen, adn not so much the further screen.

I've been quite happy with this arrangement over the years while the venues were entirely conventional lighting (except for 1 or 2 IQs/iris combo units).

Now that I'm acquiring LED units, and have more use for many Direct Selects showing multiple palettes, and the ability (I haven't utilized yet) of Magic Sheets, only having 1 TS seems limiting. It still works for me, but "it would be nice if" has come up once in a while.

I could just buy another touchscreen, but haven't been forced to yet.

Another venue in town has a newer Ion (different, more modern, OS) as the client / main facepanel, and is running a rack mount as the main processor. He's got 4 external screens set-up: 2 stacked vertically on the left, and 2 stacked vertically on the right. and Large screens, too. I think only the lower 2 are touch.

Lots of options, but what can you afford, and what can you reach (as the operator) without lifting out of the chair?

as for the drivers (what the Ion works with) I have no idea. Sorry
