Touchscreens for ION?

Hey All,

Looking at getting an Ion system for our theater (hopefully).  I have done a lot of looking around, and a lot of the information i am finding on compatible touchscreens is VERY old.  Is there a newer list of compatible screens out there?  OR, what are you using?

Also,  are two touchscreens overkill, or is one and a standard monitor fine for most people.

Thanks!

  • Trodman,

Two years ago I bought a new Ion (Windows 7 version). I got 1- HP S230tm Touchscreen Monitor for it. It is a multi-touch monitor. I've been very happy with it. I'm not sure if this model is still being produced but I did find one listed on Amazon for $279 just now. I must admit I under-utilize it because of the way our booth is set up. To use the touch screen I have to lean too far which discourages me from using it. So consider your booth layout first. If, however, you are buying a used Ion be sure of what version of Windows it is running. If it is the XP version I think you only have the Elo single-touch touchscreens available to you. As I recall, the Elo monitors are pricey.

As far as one vs. two touchscreens, if you can reach both of them easily I'm sure you could do great things with them. If you can only arrange it where you can reach one easily then I would suggest one touch and any others to be non-touch.

    Hope this helps,
    Steve
