Trying to figure this out. Effect Question and Macro Question.

So I am doing my 2nd show on the ION and I have run into 2 things I know how to do on old Expression style boards but I cant figure out on ION. First let me thank you for a wonderful product that enables me to pull off much more sophisticated shows than I was capable of in the past.

The show I am currently working on is at a community theatre and I will have half a dozen volnteers operating y console. On the theaters Express I would set up a start up macro or link Q1 to a macro that would park power for my movers and lamp them on. For the life of me I have ot been able to figre ot how I wold do this on the ION.

The second thing I want to do is create a step based effect on a color parameter. Why you may ask? We have been lucky enough to rent a Fiber star drop for the run and the color wheel has a bizarre part that blacks out the drop. So when I put the color wheel on spin I get a drop out after  the last color. What I want to do is Bounce between OW and the last good Color on the illuminators color wheel.

BTW

Can I put in a request for a button/softkey that would clear all manually entered data? All of you at ETC have created an amazing product but since my Background is in Hog and Expression programing I would love to have a quick and easy way of clearing ALL manually entered parameters. I dont care if it has to be [CLEAR] 4 times in a row or something silly it would help me (and the others used to a [RELESE] button) transition to ION/EOS.

Thanks for the help!

  • Hi Randall--

You can still have a cue execute a Macro--Its actually very simple to accomplish. After you have created your macro, type in what cue you was like to execute the macro. Lets say that it was Cue 1 that was to trigger the macro, your command line would read [Cue] [1] [Execute] [Macro] [1] [Ent] . Whereas Execute is a softkey on the desk that will show up when Cue is in the command line.

A quick way to answer the effect question is to create an Absolute Effect. In this effect you create steps which actually reference a color pallet. Record the two colors you want to use in the effect as CPS and then go into the effect editor(Double tap effect). Once there click on absolute effect--create two steps. In step one click on Value and inset your first CP. Do the same for step 2.

As for the quick way to release all data--Its already there. Its called Sneak. Sneak sets a channel to its background state. If your in a cue, then the background state is what was recorded for that cue. If you are not in a cue then the background level is going to be 0.  There are two ways to use sneak. You can sneak an individual channel by having a channel selected in the command line. Without a channel in the cmnd line you can use sneak to change all channels.

     Hope that helps.

  • Thanks for the reply...

    Execute..... I should have known.

I will try sneak that will help.

Thanks for the how to on creating abs FX I needed that.

  • By the way ETC rocks. I asked a question on Friday Afternoon and within a couple of hours the answers I needed in time for Final Dress!

    Thanks Again.

  • On the subject of clearing manual data it's also worth knowing that holding down [Clear] and pressing [Enter] will take away the Manual status of channels without returning them to their background state, thus excluding them from Update/Record Only instructions.
