Hello,
I realize that I'm in the small minority of people who look to use either of these features, let alone both in conjunction, but I was testing the other day and noticed that the sACN offset is applied independently of the allowed outputs, and was wondering if these could work in conjuction? I see the arguements for both ways, however I feel like if the outputs were applied relative to the offset, it would add more possibilities.
FEX
sACN offset 1, allowed outputs 1-1024. This would obviously limit the outputs to the first two universes.
sACN offset 2, allowed outputs 1-1024. Currently with the way the features interact, this would allow you to output from 513-1024. In my perfect world, it would allow outputting 513-1536.
I work in a multi-venue setup that sometimes wants to link multiple consoles and spaces, and sometimes wants independant control over each. Controllers are moved around, and currently the allowed outputs are reconfigured when the consoles move. This works, but having to track the universe offset for each space can be cumbersome, and isn't well supported by lightwright and other tools. If I could set a limit of 5-10 universes on each console by default, and simply change the offset when it moved, it would seem to be much simpler to understand (at least in my head).
Am I mising any reason this would be a bad idea (probably..) I guess it's argueably counterintuitive that the allowed outputs are not the allowed outputs, but The current setup also allows for setting a range of 1-1024 with an sACN offset of 3, which would prevent all outputs... so not the most intuitive either, yes?
