Ion making beep at booting

I had a problem with my Ion desk. Last time i tried to boot, it make a weird noise (double beep) and do not want to boot. I phoned the ETC help desk and they explain me how to open it ( it wasn't anymore under warranty). So i opened it, check the connections, and then it finally boot. Now my problem is that i'm a bit afraid that it makes me this another time on tour. In case of urgency, is it possible to take away the dongle, put it in a computer, and use it with the mac os software?

Thanks

Laurent

  • The recommended solution would be to have a backup console or dongle in a backup PC or Mac that can drive the show as needed. This would also address another possibility of failure, which would be a failure of the console mid-show. (While it's not something expected, imagining the worst-case is part of planning a system backup strategy). Trying to open a console to retrieve a dongle adds a significant amount of time, and to top it all off, it is not supported.

If you are concerned about the console hardware, you may wish to have the console sent in for repair as your production schedules allow. Many service centers even have loaner consoles for the repair interval.
