Edit the Color picker Library

Will it be one day possible to edit the color library in the color picker.

I find myself more and more, needing to use a vast range of colors across a wide range of fixtures on the fly.

Making color Palettes and storing them is time consuming and takes up screen real estate i need for other things.

In an ideal world I would like to be able to adjust the color chips in the picker to  suit my own taste, and then in the file it would store to say a color library.

Thank you

  • "Making color Palettes and storing them is time consuming"
I agree but how would editing the color library be any less time consuming?
Also, once you get your color palettes done you can use them in all your show files.

"and takes up screen real estate i need for other things." You can get rid of the color chips in the picker and use that space for a magic sheet or direct selects with color palettes.
  • I use a combination of color pallets and color picker, but for speed and monitor space to use just the color picker you might want to check out the bottom tab of chips called "Standard Colors". If you set up a frame so the chips are four columns wide the lower section has a nice layout of 12 saturated colors lined up with 75%, 50% and 25% tints. It gives you fast repeatable colors in a small space. Unfortunately this doesn't work for color fades using sneak the way color pallets do.

I also use buttons on my magic sheet assigned to Command to raise and lower saturation.
    Saturation @ /102 Enter Enter - with the text - Sat +%
    Saturation @ /110 Enter Enter - with the text - Sat+ +%
    Saturation @ /98 Enter Enter - with the text - Sat-%
    Saturation @ /90 Enter Enter - with the text - Sat--%

Credit to whom ever posted this previously. I find I use it a lot and it works with sneak times for smooth tint fades.

  • lloyd: you're correct it doesn't work with sneak, but it works with a manual color time set in setup and should also work with the new manual time fader
  • Thanks! I just posted a feature request for sneak time :-)

I would love to use the manual time fader but it still doesn't work as a magic sheet symbol, or did that get fixed and I missed it?
