ION Offline + Visualiser

Hello,

I would like to learn ION. Mostly I have only offline version to learn in spare time. How I can connect it to:
 - WYSIWYG
 - Capture Polar
 - visualiser You can recommend.

I am interested in two configurations:
 - within one PC (notebook)
 - with two PCs (Ethernet), one PC ION, second Visualiser

Thanks,

Adam

  • Having not used Wyg in years I can only speak for Capture, which is actually very simple--

You must have your computer and Ion plugged in together using either a crossover cable or a switch.

If Ion is set to be a DHCP server you should be able to just plug in, allow your computer to obtain an IP then start Capture.

If the Ion is not set up to be a DHCP server then you need to give your laptop a static IP. The ETC standard uses 10.101.1.1xx The Subnet should be 255.255.0.0 and the gateway should match the IP. If your using Vista this might be a little different as Vista does not seem to handle a like IP and Gateway. As far as settings within Capture itself, I dont seem to recall of any that you should have to change. Any problems as always call for support.

  • Thank You Josh.

Still I need to connect ION offline with WYSIWYG. Please help, is it possible and how to configure:
     - ION (Interface, Notebook IP adress)
     - WYSIWYG (Live>Device manager>…(console, device, network)…, Notebook IP Adress)

Many thanks for any ideas ;-)

    Adam

  • In Wyg, you do not need to use the Device Manager - there is a setting to bind ETCNet2 and ETCNet2 EDMX, but they do not work.

As an Administrator, go to Options | Application Options | ETC Interface and tick the box labelled "Allow EDMX reception". Ensure that the V4 radio button is also selected. Restart Wyg, and you should see EDMX. This can be verified in the DATA mode of Wyg, under patch.

Note that you will see a very slow level update and random levels at times - this is normal for offline visualisation.

    Hope that helps-
