Tracking and merging

I am trying to wrap my brain around what i did wrong and was hoping someone might shed some light on this.

I was working on an Ion writing cues out of order. I had not placed a block on cue 27 and when we got there the NIP information had tracked through as expected.  Was my bad! lesson learned.

So I placed a Block on Q27 and went to merge Q27 forward from a previous save and much to my shock the intensity from the last recorded cue tracked through.  After a few attempts (like adding a fake cue after the last recorded Cue and blocking it) Same result.  What i ended up having to do is place Hard Zeros in the channels that were not in Cue 27 and merge again, which worked.

I am sure it is expected behavior that i just cannot wrap my head around and am hoping someone might be able to explain it to me.

  • so you blocked Cue 27 and then merged 28, 29, 30? blocking doesn't mean the values will not propgate into following cues but rather that changes of previous cues don't influence the blocked cue.

yes, there are tracking bugs when merging, but i think what you saw wasn't part of that issue. i personally merge cues to a different cuelist and then once i have the cues in my showfile i start moving them around. that way i can use undo...
