RDM help-Gadget II and Desire D60 XTI

Hi

I've never used RDM before, but we just got some Desire D60 XTI's in, and so my boss got a Gadget II and I downloaded EOSNomad to try and patch them/use them before we put them up. When I launch Nomad, I can see the Gadget, and I hit 'update firmware' which it says it does successfully.

When I hook up the XTI's I go into 'Patch' and then 'RDM' and put 'discover' to 'enabled' but that's when I get stuck. Can anyone offer any RDM for dummies advice? If I use the Gadget through my Ion would it work?

TIA

  • using the gadget through nomad and through ion should be the same.

    some things related to RDM:
    - RDM is a bit pickier about termination, so make sure you have the terminating restistors in place
    - RDM is compared to DMX like oncoming traffic in a oneway street. in the past data only had to go one way, so (older) DMX splitters are not prepared for traffic going the other way. you need to make sure you only have RDM-compliant DMX splitters or none at all between the console and the fixtures.

and then there are some settings you need to take care of:
    - RDM needs to be enabled for the gadget output: in the Shell, settings, Local I/O
