Feature Requests: Magic Sheets "Background" Behavior for objects.

Magic Sheets "Background" Behavior for objects would be great. I would love to make a drawing in the Magic Sheet Blind editor and tell the object to be a "background object"--much like the plot image file I've imported already. This would require a new layer to be able to edit as the background only. The frustrating part of the current method is that, when in editing mode, objects that are really not part of the lighting get in the way when you try to select multiple lights by dragging over them or when you are trying to quick number a few lights and you accidentally click on the underlying shape behind your lights. (The pictured example is of a helipad I drew as we arrived on a location which was nice in LIVE, but frustrating in BLIND for the reasons mentioned.)

Also, I would love for the LIVE values of channels to return to the Live Table Display (now in Blind) when you are in a Blind Magic Sheet. I believe this behavior was broken around 2.4. I miss it because I cannot edit a Magic Sheet and still see what is happening on stage at the same time--which is quite valuable to me.
Thank you!

  • Another work around is if you group all the items that you want in your background layer, then they generally become non editable (or at least the elements within the group do) and your only problem is you can still select the group, but if you do select it then just command (control) clicking anywhere in it deselects it from your selection.

Depending on whether you are someone that always does the blue select from the top left to bottom right (only include if fully in the selection box) or the green bottom to top select (select anything the box touches), you could actually make the group cover the full screen and then if you do the blue select it would never select accidentally. (although if like me you tend to do the green select it would always select, so I wouldn't make it bigger than I needed).
