Complex Moving Head Effects

Hey everyone,

Currently working on a senior project at the moment and I am going to have some moving lights at my disposal for use. I'm programming a timecoded show, and am in need of some help or guidance on how to replicate an effect. (Video Below)

I've been trying for about two hours to make an effect similar to the "falling" look of the heads. So far, I've used an absolute effect acting off of different presets. Despite my efforts, I can't find out how to make the effect as fluid as it does in the live video.

Any support is extremely appreciated.

  • you can program that with an absolute effect. you need two focus palettes or presets, one with the position at the top (e.g. FP 1) and one with the position at the bottom (e.g. FP 2).
    create an absolute effect with 4 steps. in the Level column of the first one you type FP 1, in the seconds line you type 100, third is FP 2 and fourth is 0. so now you have an effect that moves the lights up, turns them on, moves tehm down, turns them off. all you have to play with now is the timing. use the column Step Time for that.
