Updating Submasters

Hi all!

I was trying to update some channels into a sub, and I see this:

When try to add new channel values, and also change any existing channel value, the press [Update] [Sub x Bumb], only the existing channels are updated. Others continue like manual channels.

If I try to only add new channels values, update works fine.

This feature (update sub) works only in selected channels or manual channels?

So the question is,, this is a bug, or I have to make [select manual] first?

Thanks!

  • I'm somewhat confused as to what you cant achieve, there are 3 different functions

    1. Update that updates channels already in the sub with changed values.
    2. Record which updates everything you select into the sub - adding channels if needed
    3. Record only which updates channels that you've changed, adding them if needed.

It feels like one of those ought to be the function you are looking for?
  • Ok, sorry if I can't make a great explanation, because my English is not very good. Im going to try.

If Im working with some subs, and id like to add one or some channels into a existing sub, normally I key this channels like manual values, the I push [update][sub x Bumb]. Now I have new sub values only if I put this sub at 0% and load again.

When try only to edit the existing values, work fine, as expect. (value data updates in real time and now see yellow info)

So, now I have better info how update works, but, I need to understand better why I need to use different ways to update if I have new channels or not.

Also I work with express/expression, and I think, in my opinion, is more easy to update channels into subs, groups, cues or focus points, because is not difference if you have new values, or new channels, or existing data. Only press [Update][Cue] or [Update][Sub x] thats work fine.

    King regards.

  • I suppose some of the difference is Nomad is trying to let you deal with more complex setups.

Suppose you have the current stage look being contributed to by 4 subs.

Suppose you then manually change various things.

On Nomads you could then press update for each sub in turn and the bits that came from each sub would be updated.

I've not use Element but by the sounds of it that would mess up all your subs if you did that as they would all get all the manual values and all the channels added to them.

So on Nomads they've given you two different buttons so you can decide if you want to do what I think you are saying Element did, by pressing Record Only or if you press the Update button you get the safer behaviour of just updating the channels already in the sub.
