DMX / Ethernet Priority on Ion

I have an Ion that, due to a damaged ethernet cable, is now connected via DMX to my dimmer racks, MLs, scrollers, etc.  I also have a RVI connected via an ethernet switch.  When I boot up the console and bring up any channel, nothing happens onstage.  The racks tell me that they're fine and if I boot up the RVI it syncs the show just fine but still no light onstage.  It isn't until I unplug the ethernet cable from the back of the console that I'm able to get signal down to my racks.  At this point I can reconnect the Cat5 cable and run my show without any problems.

My questions is - is there a priority to the signal going out from the DMX port vs. Ethernet?   This has happened a few times on this show, and unplugging the ethernet cable seems to be the common solution each time.  9 times out of 10 I'm using the ethernet port, but I was curious if trying to use it in conjunction with a DMX port caused problems.  Thanks!

Setup:  All ETC: Ion v1.4.1, NET3 RVI, ETC opto-splitter, Sensor touring racks
