Element

Hi

Im looking to phase out tungsten lamps in my venue (Before the EU phase them out for us).

As I add LED fixtures to my stock Im going to need more channels than my Element 250 can provide. Can I get more channels with a software upgrade rather than buying a new console.?

Also, possibly not the place for this question BUT Im going to need to replace my ancient Strand LD 90 dimmers soon so Ill need something whcih I can set to Hot /Through power as a power source for LEDs.

Can anyone reccommend dimmers with this function?

Thanks all

  • Gadget, just like gateways or nodes, are output methods. They add physical connectors to your console. In ETC world they have never anything to do with the license.

    An Element has two limitations:
    - You can patch 250 or 500 channels, depending on what model you bought. If you bought the 250 version you can upgrade to the 500 version.
    - You get 1024 addresses of output. This is fix and cannot be changed.

  • Thank you. I knew the Channels were fixed, but was uncertain about the Addresses.
  • just to clarify:

adding physical outputs can be helpful. in Eos world you can spread your output capacity over as many universes as you want (actually only 256 out of the range of 1 to 63,999). 1024 doesn't necessarily have to be two full universes. it could be 4 half universes. or U.1 with 400 addresses, U.2 with 70, U.4 with a Mac Viper (40 addresses) and U.999 with 2 addresses.

so adding a gadget or sACN gateways or ArtNet products can of course be helpful but doesn't change the overall capacity of an Element. this is also true for the rest of the Eos-Family. the licenses are just higher there...
