Ableton

Hey there,

For an event I have coming up I need to program lighting for a song on an Element. There are so many cues I wanted midi to fire my cues instead. If I use Ableton and write a midi note for everytime I want a cue to change  how would I then output that midi to be transferred to MSC for the element to know to "fire cue one" or "go cue 1"

if any a free solution to my problem or a 30 day trial of sorts

if you have an idea please keep your ideas to idiot level I'm very new to the midi world

  • Take a look at Reaper. Free trial software that allows you to stripe an MTC or LTC track alongside your music track.
Then on your Element - Learn the timcode. Plenty of tutorials and manual supplements out there to walk you through setting up and learning. Fairly certain Element allows MTC/LTC but I could be wrong (never used an Element I’m afraid).
    Good luck.
  • Element like most Eos family consoles supports Midi Time Code either through the on board Midi connectors or through a 3rd party USB-Midi interface (Win7). For LTC (SMPTE) you need a Net3 ShowControl gateway that accepts SMPTE time code through its XLR port and converts it to an Ethernet protocol so it's available to all Eos family consoles in the same network.
