Nomad Master/Client issue

I am running a system comprising of a programming wing and a laptop with a nomad dongle. I am trying to run another laptop in client mode but cannot get the two systems to synchronise. although the two machines can see each other with no problem, when the client machine tries to load the show it fails with the error message about making sure that the software versions are identical. I've checked, and both machines have exactly the same fixture library and welcome screen version numbers. They are also set to the same language (United States English). Is there any other setting I should be looking for.

The only difference that I can think of  is that the programming wing dongle has two universes activated whilst the client laptop only has one. However, I have successfully used that laptop as a client to an Eos Ti running 3 universes in the past.

  • Hello,

The welcome screen version doesn't change with every software update, so I would recommend launching as Offline and then checking the software and library versions in [About] to confirm they are indeed matching.
The different output counts on the dongles will not affect the ability of one to client the other.

    Thank you,
  • I'm fairly certain the software versions are the same, as i updated both machines to the latest versions of the software and fixture library.. When I look in "settings" on the welcome screen they both claim to be the same.

However, I have just realised that I didn't do a restart on the client machine after updating the fixture library, so maybe this has something to do with it.

I have also realised that the port start addresses for the console card and external devices are different because of the way I have been using the two machines recently. Don't know if that could be a factor.

I don't have access to the programming wing machine for a couple of days, so I'll try your suggestion and report back.
  • It turned out to be a software issue. The welcome screen and fixture library were the same, but when I checked in [about] the software on the Master machine was one release behind. It appears that when both machines were updated, the master machine had failed to update and we hadn't noticed. We had to change some administrator settings on it before we could get a successful update. Thanks for sorting it out
