RDM control by channels

Hello,

This is my first time posting so if there is an issue please let me know. On to my question. I have an etc element and then a set of QolorFlex lights that you can find here.

To control these lights I am using Qolorflex dimmers that you can find here. I found out that the dimmers are controlled by RDM. So I connected them to my board and went into patch and then device list. I scanned for the RDM devices and was able to find them. I am new to RDM as these are my first fixtures that use it. I was able to set the address on the board to match the address on the fixture but I do not know where to go from there. I have tried to find support documents on how to control the lights but I am unable to do so. Using the Qolorflex dimmers I am supposed to be able to control 4 sets of lights but the element wants to patch it all to one channel.

TBH I am completely lost on how to control these dimmers from the etc element. If anyone could please explain to me how to patch and control these lights that would be amazing. Any help is greatly appreciated. Also my console is version 2.10

  • "Quad Chip" in this case means 4 colors in a single chip. There isn't a chase function as far as I can tell. In fact I haven't seen a classic chase function in LED tape at all.

These days "pixel" tape is fairly common. ( http://www.citytheatrical.com/products/-qolorpix-led-tape ) It does all that and far more. Pixel tape lets you control each LED individually. This way you could have a chase of any number on and any number off. To be honest, a single LED on a ribbon is barely noticeable over 10' away. You may also need some sort of intermediate controller. To patch all 48LEDs per meter on the above product would max out the addresses on an Element in just a few meters of tape. Fortunately the drivers (not dimmers) for this stuff is built to make it more practical. If you really need some sort of chase function then I suggest you call the good folks at City Theatrical for help. They don't all know the Element in particular but very much understand DMX and address/channel limits.
